Soulful, Original Music from Texas, The Delta and Beyond The name “All Ways Torn” is derived from the fact that, for singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, recording artist and bandleader Oliver Mowat, there are so many things he wants to do and so many things that need to be done, he is…”All Ways Torn!” Oliver has been writing songs almost as long as he has been playing and fronted national bands such as Salty Dog and Poetic Justice, and in his early years he was with bands from Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston and though he never made the national charts, he did open for Texas bands Z. Z. Top, Canned Heat, Blood Sweat And Tears and Gary P. Nunn and international artists like Dave DeLacroix. Through the seventies and eighties he turned his attention to songwriting and became a published songwriter and was recognized by the American Poets Society. In the nineties Oliver shared the stage and/or recorded with some of the best blues, jazz and southern rock musicians in the world, such as Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, Randy McAllister, Chuck Rainey, Perry Jones, Hash Brown, Sam Meyers, Mr. D, Matt Snow, Christian Brooks, Bobby Coffman Big Jim Wells and many others. For the past seven years Oliver has written a gospel show and performed with the well known gospel singing group The Cason Family as well as legendary country and bluegrass guitarist and recording artist Michael O’Neill and performed his songs for thousands of people. Oliver has now surrounded himself with an awesome group of musicians! Drummer “Slammin’ Sammy” Aaron has recorded for Sony, Impact and Midwest Records and shared stages with LeAnn Rymes, Johnny High, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lou Hampton, Rusty Weir, Noah Haggard, Pete Barbeck, Jimmy “Preacher” Ellis, Texas Slim and many others. Guitarist, backing vocalist, producer and owner of 222 Recording Studio and Oliver’s partner and Co-Producer Debbie “Bo” Bohannon from the Underground Band… Bassist Gary “ET” Massey from great bands such as The Warlocks, West Coast Experimental Band, Smell of Incense, Southwest F.O.B., The Underground Band and many other original recording groups.…And last but certainly not least … recording artist, Joe “MacAdoo” Ivy. His blues, country and gospel background coupled with his work on sax, flute, clarinet and harmonica add to the flavor. Joe Mac spent several years with the Crossover band during which time they opened for big names like Ray Price and Mel Tillis and others.Oliver’s lyrics, sometimes humorous and sometimes serious are straight from the heart. From Blues to Jazz to Funk to Pop... this band ROCKS!Their self titled debut CD… “All Ways Torn” on ‘Bout Time Records is scheduled for release in the summer of 2008 and will be available for purchase at record stores and on this website…There are no bells and whistles on the CD so what you hear on the disk is almost as good as their live performances. They are awesome on stage! This talented and versatile group of musicians love what they do and they are great together! If you get a chance to see them live…go! You’ll be glad you did!Glenda
